Graduate Assistants
The Koehler Center has several programs that are designed for graduate students who are teaching TCU classes. If you are a Graduate Assistant, you may choose to attend all Koehler Center events.
The Koehler Center can also work with graduate students who are designing new courses or revising existing ones. Such collaborations can be particularly useful for helping you brainstorm new approaches to teaching the subject matter, consider the coherence of the course, and apply principles of course design and evaluation. GAs might meet with the Koehler Center to discuss:
- incorporating technology into a course
- infusing multicultural content into a course
- developing clearly stated goals for student learning
- developing methods for assessing student learning
- preparing a learner-centered syllabus
- designing innovative teaching strategies
- building in opportunities for student feedback
- video-taping a class period for review by the GA and a member of the Koehler Center staff
- Resources for Course Planning
- In addition to consulting with Koehler Center staff and participating in all Koehler Center workshops and events, GAs can take advantage of the Koehler Center's library, which has books on course planning, teaching and learning, and higher education.
