A few things to plan your semester whether new to TCU or wanting a reminder

Class Information

Class Search: Login to classes.tcu.edu for information about your class(es) (e.g. building, room, days, time).

Core Curriculum: Determine if your course is part of the core and identify the student learning outcomes you need to teach and assess. Learn more about the TCU Core Curriculum.

Place textbook orders using Order Textbooks on the TCU Online homepage.

Emergency Preparedness: Locate buildings for your classes and identify relevant emergency information. Check for classroom assignment right before classes start in case the location has changed.​

Syllabus

A well-designed, complete, and engaging syllabus is key for a successful course. Use the syllabus template to prepare accessible syllabi based on best practices and TCU policy.

Craft syllabi in your own style with the many features available in Microsoft Word while ensuring you include required content for students.

Grades

TCU grades are due at mid-term (unsatisfactory grades) and end of the term (final grades). For more on grades see the Grading and Grade Rosters.

Learning Tech

Tools for teaching and learning including the Learning Management System (LMS)

LMS

TCU’s Learning Management System (LMS) is D2L. We use it as digital companion for our classes including posting of syllabi and navigating course evaluations.

Copy Your Course content and items from a previous term and update in the new course.

Faculty Requests to enroll co-instructors and TAs, to combine your courses, et cetera.

YuJa Video

Use YuJa, a video content management system, to create, edit, store, and share video and audio files. YuJa is integrated in TCU’s LMS and can be used on its own.

iThenticate & Turnitin

iThenticate and Turnitin assess the originality of text. Faculty and graduate students can check the originality of written work before publication with iThenticate. Instructors can verify the originality of student work with Turnitin. Artificial Intelligence has reduced the efficacy of both of these tools.

Respondus

Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor are integrated with the LMS Quizzes tool and helps to prevent cheating in online exams.

Navigating Campus

Navigating Academic Term

Orientation and resources are available virtually through the N2TCU Adjunct Orientation course in our learning management system, Brightspace by D2L. Enrollment is automatic after you create your TCU username and email address.

Use the TCU Syllabus Template to ensure your course syllabus has the required details.

TCU faculty must hold a final evaluative exercise during the finals time scheduled by the registrar.

TCU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, SACSCOC. The work you do as faculty is linked to our accreditation.

New to TCU

Welcome to TCU. Information and resources to start your first term at TCU

OnBoarding
Do you have a contract?

No: Contact the person who hired you or your department’s admin to find out when you will be emailed your contract.

Yes: Complete the task list in PageUp including (1) submitting graduate transcripts and (2) presenting your original documents to complete your I-9 documentation.

Do you have a TCU ID number?

No: The ID number is located on your contract or obtained from your department contact.

Yes: Use your TCU ID number and birthday to create username, password, and TCU email account.

Go to it.tcu.edu/newemployees/ to create your TCU account and access the IT onboarding checklist and services.

Once you have a TCU ID and email address, you will be automatically enrolled in a course for new faculty located in the LMS special courses.

Full-Time Faculty

Full-time Faculty attend orientation in person the week before classes begin and have access to N2TCU Full-time Faculty Orientation in our learning management system, Brightspace by D2L. This course contains resources and materials from orientation and timely updates during the semester. Enrollment is automatic after the TCU username and email address are created.
